Description
The Ultimate Grazing Muzzle can be used to help restrict grass intake. A small rectangle hole at the base restricts the amount your horse can graze helping to manage weight.
Please check the measurements as the sizing is different to standard muzzles!
Small Pony Internal circumference 48 cm, height at back 13 cm, front 17 cm. Base diameter 13 cm.
Hole 3 cm x 2 cm. Fits Shetlands or finer ponies up to around 12hh
Pony Internal 55 cm, height at back 15 cm, from 19cm. Base diameter 14cm. Hole 3 cm x 2 cm. Fits chunkier small ponies and ponies up to around 13.2hh
Cob Internal 63 cm, height at back 17 cm, front 22 cm. Base diameter 15 cm. Hole 5 cmx 3 cm. Fits 13.2 to 14.2 hh but if chunky, horse may be more suitable.
Horse Internal 67 cm, height at back 17 cm, front 24 cm. Base diameter 15 cm. Hole 5 cm x 2 cm. Fits approx 14.2 to 15.2 or larger if fine.
XL Internal 70 cm, height at back 17 cm, front 24 cm. Base diameter 16 cm. Hole 5 cm x 3 cm. 15.3hh plus.
Please note all measurements are approximate. There needs to be at least 2 fingers room between the muzzle and the horse’s face at the front and 3 -4 fingers at the back. The chin must not touch the back of the muzzle or it is likely to rub.
- There should be ample room around the bucket of the muzzle. It should not be tight; you should be able to fit at least 2 fingers room at the front and 3 / 4 fingers at the back
- The cheek pieces should be as close to vertical as possible. If they are pulling back at an angle, the muzzle is too tight
- The chin should not touch the back of the muzzle
- It is advisable to watch the horse / pony eat to check there is enough room
- There should be at least an inch gap between the horse’s muzzle and the base of the Grazing Muzzle
- Adjust the straps so the ring is not too close to the eyes
- The Grazing Muzzle should be removed and checked at least once a day and not left on 24 hours a day
